U8's - Our annual David Boland blitz took place on Saturday 9th September. This year it was time for the hurlers to shine with 250 players taking part on 16 teams. Our under 7's stole the show winning all 6 of their games, beating Boherlahan Dualla in a great final. The under 8 competition was won by Clonmel Óg beating Mulinahone in a very close game. Our under 8 team lost out by a narrow margin in the semi final to the winners Clonmel Óg. Well done and thank you to all the teams that took part. A special mention must go to our young whistler referees who did an amazing job. Trophies and medals were presented by members of the Boland Family.

Ladies football. The juniors travelled to Cappawhite early on Sunday to play the host club in the county semi-final. We had just about enough players to field a team. The girls who took to the field are to be commended on a brave and battling performance that just came up short against a more seasoned Cappawhite team. Our younger players Hannah Mallekoote, Eve Ryan and Alannah Dowling were inspirational to the other players and everyone tried very hard all over the pitch. We had some good chances in the first half but were unable to capitalize. At halftime we were 1-4 to 0-2 behind. We had the wind to look forward to for the second half but it was Cappawhite who got the start with a goal and point. Our girls battled away and were rewarded with a very good goal. This was followed soon afterwards by a second goal and with a quarter of an hour to play we were just three points in arrears. However Cappawhite responded to the danger and some late scores closed out the game for them. Final score 5-10 to 2-3. Well done to our team who gave a great performance despite being understrength. The end of August was back to school for everyone but it was also the beginning of the u14 championship. We faced a strong Sliabhnaman side in Monroe. Two very fit teams battled for possession from the throw in and continued battling for scores to the bitter end until sliabhnaman pitted us at the end by two points. There was effort given by everyone on the night. This was a great game to watch and this team will continue to work hard in the future. Well done to all involved. Panel: Eimear McKeown, Tara McGrath, Grace Quinn, Orlaith Breen, Emma Bates, Michelle Cronin, Robyn Tynan, Ava Collins, Sarah O'Connor, Clare Moylan, Kate Moore, Triona Ryan, Lucy Holohan, Dearbhla McDonagh, Alana Dowling, Riona O'Sullivan, Mia Duggan, Lucy Boland
Camogie. Our under 16s find them back in competition once again as the earlier round games were deemed void due to irregularities . The U12 girls played Fethard on Thursday last week. It was a very skilful game with great goalkeeping from Shawna Mitten. Having our full squad to call on our girls were able to keep the pressure on the Fethard girls and we just lost by a single point. Believe to Achieve are going to run Boxercise on a Thursday night in conjunction with the Camogie Club indoors in Monroe. Parents are also going to be encouraged to join in the training. The Camogie Club and committee and Ladies Football club extend sincere condolences to Marc Collins and family on the death of Marc’s father John Collins.
