As we all know this Saturday, the nation thoughts and prayers are with Charlie Bird as he attempts to climbs Croago Patrick to raise awareness and much needed funds for 2 wonderful charities.
Pieta House provide so much support to any one who has suffered with mental health/Suicidal thought, which effect more people that we care to admit.
IMNDA had been a charity close to the clubs,:
our past club president Charlie Boland was diagnosed with MND in the late 80's, the Boland family got to see first hand how awful this disease is and the amazing work IMNDA do to support their clients.
we all have memories of Charlie battling hard against this disease for so long, longer than most people. Charlie continued to support our teams and the club, attending the matches for as long as he could, even after he was wheelchair bound, and he would be very proud of our current successes
When Charlie passed away in 2003, it was a big loss to our club. We all missed the Jeep on the Bank of every pitch in the South and further. Charlie is an integral part of our clubs history,
Since then we have had others diagnosed with MND, John Alyward who would have trained many Juvenile teams in our club, John will feature in DIY SOS, the big build this Sunday evening, Also Gerladine Lorigan, is also battling MND, The Lorigan family have been involved in our club for many years, and they are climbing slievenamon to raise much needed funds
some people are planning to climb slievenamon, but for others who want to do their bit but fine Mountain climb a stretch to far, Eileen Boland our Juvenile secretary has organised a walk around monroe Starting at 11am Saturday morning. so please come along and walk it with her.
