U14’s

Our U14A team took on Killenaule on Tuesday last in the South Semi Final. The First half was a cracker of a game, Jake Forrestal opened the scoring with a point but Killenaule replied scoring 2-1. Killian Butler replied with a point and Darragh Walsh added a goal. Killenaule took 2 minutes to reply with a goal. Then in the 17th Minutes Jake Forrestal converted a penalty opportunity but again Killenaule replied with 1-2. Half time score Moyle Rovers 2-2 Killenaule 4-3. The second half showed the best of both defence with the scoring kept to a minimum. Cillian O’Halloran opened the half with a point, which was to be our only score of the half, while our defence held Killenaule to a total of three point in the second half. Final score Moyle Rovers 2-3 Killenaule 4-6. Commiserations to the boys and their mentors, and best of luck to Killenaule in the final.

On Monday evening the 20th may our U14 C team took on Carrick Davin’s in the South Semi Final, this ended up being a very one sided affair, with our boys winning comprehensively to put us through to the South Final.

On Sunday evening we took on Commercials in the South Final in Kilsheelan. With a very strong wind at our back, it took a little while for our boys to settle the nerves. Commercials opened the scoring with a point. Lucas Shield, Connor O’Gorman & Harry O’Keeffe opened Rovers scoring with a point each. It was in the 12th minute that Paudie Ryan scored the first goal, Connor O’Gorman quickly added a point. Commercials scored a goal against the run of play, but the boys pick themselves up and replied with a point from Harry O’ Keeffe, Lucas Shield added a second goal and tapped over a lovely point. Commercials replied with a point. Connor O’Gorman scored another point before Commercials got through for their second goal from a high ball dropping into the square. Jack Boland finished off the half with a point from play to give us a 6 point lead at the break. Half time score Moyle Rovers 2-8 Commercials 2-2. The big test came in the second half, playing against a very strong wind and trying to hold on to our lead. Lucas Sheild opened the second half with a point. Commercials got through for their first goal of the half. Cathal O Gorman score a point from a free. In the 6th minute Commercials broke down our defence for the second time to get through for another goal. In the 10th minutes Commercials scored a point from play to bring the margin back to a single point lead for Rovers. From great work out of our defence, saw harry O Keeffe finish the move off with an excellent goal to put 4 between the sides. Commercials scored a point in the 13th Minute to put a goal between the sides. Our defence worked tirelessly for the remaining 15 minutes of play, lead by a superb performance from centre back Cian Flaherty, and ably assisted Tom O Brien, Darragh McDonagh, Daniel Crotty Casey, Cathal O Gorman, Davy Brennan and Substitute Darragh Egan and goalie Matthew Buckley. This Defence held strong for the last 12 minutes of the game and kept our all commercials attempt on goal to win by a goal. Final score Moyle Rovers 3-10 Commercials 4-4.
