U14s

Last Thursday saw both of our U14 teams out in Monroe.  First up was our A team against Commercials.  It was a very entertaining game of football.   There was very little between the sides at half time with a score of Moyle Rovers 1-2 Commercials 0-3.  In the start of the second half we began to gain a comfortable lead… scoring 1-7 and holding commercials scoreless in this opening 10 minutes, but in true Commercials style they fought back, scoring 3 goals to bring them right back into the game.  IN the final minutes we score 1-1 to finish the game victorious after a fantastic competitive game of football. Final score Moyle Rovers 3-10 Commercials 3-4.  Our Second team took on Eire Og Annacarthy in the C competition again this was a very competitive game of football with some great passages of play from these young players.  Final score Moyle Rovers 1-6 Eire Og Annacarthy 1-1.

Junior Hurlers

Our Junior B Hurlers took on Cahir in the first round of the South Championship last Wednesday.  Cahir took an early lead scoring 1-3, while we only managed 1 point from Darragh O Connor in response in the opening 15 minutes.  Cahir scored 2 further points before Danny Lyne and Luke Perry scored 3 – 1  Cahir score 1 more point before the break.  Half time score Moyle Rovers 3-4 Cahir 1-6.  The second half display was just as good from this team scoring a further 1-7  from Luke Boland, Tommy Morrissey, Danny Lyne & Luke Perry.  Our defence held care to scoring only 5 more points to come away with a great win.  Final Score Moyle Rovers 4-11 Cahir 1-11.

Senior League

On Friday last our Seniors play Galtee Rovers in our first outing in the county league.  In very early on looked like this was going to be a one-sided affair, And the game in it entirety was definitely a one sided affair, Galtee scored 1-6 throughout the game, while Rovers clocked up a comfortable 2-19 to run out easy winners in their first game.

County Scene

Unfortunately, last Saturday was a bad day for Tipperary Footballers suffering defeat to a much better Limerick side on the day.  Commiseration to Clubmen Alan Campbell and Liam Boland.  Wishing Alan, Liam & the team the very best of luck in the Qualifiers.

Also Commiseration to Rory Collins, Peter McGarry & County Minors who were defeated in the Phase 1 final by Clare last Wednesday night.

Well done to Tipp ladies Football, including Club Women Emma Cronin, Niamh Lonergan & Cora Maher on a fantastic win over Limerick ladies on Saturday evening.  10-21 is extraordinary scoring by any team in a championship game, as well as holding opposition

Ladies Football.

The senior team had a good win over Cappawhite in the county league semi-final played in Bansha on Sunday morning. This was a competitive game with Moyle Rovers getting the goals at vital times to secure a place in the county Final against Aherlow. The opening exchanges were close with both sides guilty of missing scoarble chances .The opening goal was scored by young player Sarah O’Connor following a great run down field by Aine Fitzgerald.  Another great Moyle Rovers passage of play resulted in a Jenny Everard goal. Cappawhite stayed in touch with good scores and two screamers of points could well have ended up in the net. Three points from Jenny Everard and a Rosin McGrath point left the Halftime scores Moyle Rovers 2-4 to Cappawhite 0-5. Moyle Rovers hit a good patch at the start of the second half. Goals from Megan Shanahan and Substitute Kirsty Crotty Ryan moved us into a commanding lead and the same players scored further goals to secure a comprehensive victory. Worthy also of mention were four excellent points from play by Rosin McGrath. Team: Monnie Griffin, Maebh Corr, Emma Cronin, Hazel Shanahan, Orla Burke,Derbhile Fitzgearld, Michelle Cronin, Sarah Everard, Aine Fitzgearld, Megan Shanahan (2-1),Gillian O’Brien (0-1), Rosin McGrath (0-4), Sarah O’Connor (1-0), Evrena Everard, Jenny Everard (1-3) .
