On Sunday morning last our U21 got their South Championship campaign started, albeit with Round 2 of the Championship, due to bad weather mid week, Round 1 V Cahir has been postponed.
We faced Grangemockler/Ballyneale in round 2, and ideally we need a win. The first have was very slow and draining game with little scores coming from either sides. It was 8th minute before Grangemockler got the scoring underway, they added a second point 2 minutes later. In the 12th minute Grangemockler scored a third point. We then went to the 25th Minute for Grangemockler to get their 4th and final score of the half. It was in the closing 5 minutes of play when Riain Quigley and James Brennan score a point each to al least reduce the lead before half time. Half time score Moyle Rovers 0-2 Grangemockler/Ballyneale 0-4.
Despite a poor display in the first half this game was still there for the taking. Riain Quigley opened the second half with a point from play. Grangemockler replied with a point. In the 6th minute we conceded a Goal to Grangemockler. This seem to drive on our players, we responded with 4 points from Ben Owens, Riain Quigley & Darragh Bolger, to leave us a point behind. Then the momentum was back in Grangemockler favour, with them scoring 3 points to put them 4 points ahead, Riain Quigley scored a point to leave just the goal between the sides, but unfortunately the clock ran out on us. Final Score Moyle Rovers 0-8 Grangemockler Ballyneale 1-8.
We now face Commercials in Round 3 on Saturday at 2pm in Ned Hall Park, please get come out to support the team.
