Our Under 19s took on Fethard in the A county final in Littleton on Saturday evening.  We had the opening score from a pointed free from Kirsty Crotty Ryan. We lost one of our players  to a sin bin after a few minutes and this was an immense loss as Fethard settled into the game and quickly   began to clock up the scores. On the quarter hour we trailed by four points. Moyle Rovers by contrast were making a lot of errors and little was going right. We were trying hard to get into the game but a Fethard goal left us with a big deficit. At half time we trailed by 1-8 to 0-3. Moyle Rover’s scores coming from a further Kirsty free and a point from play by Louise Norris. The second half saw a brave and courageous display from Moyle Rovers as they attempted to retrieve the game. They put in a very spirited display and   began to claw back the deficit. We were dominant for long periods and had the deficit down to four points but Fethard tacked on a few more scores at the end to close out winners by 1-13 to 0-9. Our girls were very disappointed with the result but can take great comfort from the manner in which they refused to accept defeat in the second half. We had some nearly scores that floated across the mouth of the goal but did not land into the net. There was no faulting their commitment and drive once they began to function as the team they can be. Well done to the full panel of players and their dedicated Management team and helpers.
