Our first minor camogie game was away to Nenagh on Sunday September 30th at noon. Our U19 footballers had their game fixed for the same day and time before our camogie fixture was issued. In order to stay in the minor camogie championship we had to field a team and despite our best efforts it could not be refixed. Ten of our younger members took up the gauntlet and made their way for a David and Goliath type contest. They were not to be deterred by the twelve strong Nenagh team and battled bravely and made Nenagh work hard throughout. Makayala made a great impression in goal and gave a performance which belied her young years. She was ably assisted by powerful defending by Eimear, Ellen and Tara. Sophie and Triona never gave up and the surging attacks by Ava and Triona caused a lot of trouble for the Nenagh defenders. Caitriona and Emer linked up well in the forward line and battled hard. Nenagh emerged victorious on the scoreboard but our brave girls lost nothing in defeat and left the field leaving us filled with pride and admiration for the display given. Team: Makayala O Donnell, Eimear Mc Keown, Ellen Buckley, Tara Mc Grath, Sophie Delaney, Ava Collins, Orlaith Breen, Triona Ryan, Caitriona Phelan and Emer Ryan (captain)
