Congratulations to The Tipperary Intermediate team who won the All-Ireland in Croke Park on Sunday. We are very proud of our club representatives on the team. Gillian O’Brien, who scored four points in the final, was also on the team in 2008 when Tipperary last won the trophy. Niamh Lonergan who has been an example of courage and commitment having battled back bravely from two cruciate knee injuries to fight her way back on to the starting team. Sarah Everard has also battled back from knee injury to play her part during the campaign. Evrena Everard unfortunately out through injury in the later stages of the championship and Aine Fitzgearld who is a dynamic young player with a bright future. We also salute Rosin McGrath who was a member of the victorious Tipperary League panel and forfeited her championship place due to J1 USA travel during the summer. Congratulations girls from all in the club. Our congratulations also to Tony Smith a member of the victorious management team. A special thank you to our great volunteers who organised two buses to the game. All who travelled had a brilliant day out and came home with memories that will last a lifetime. It will be down to earth fairly quickly as the senior team play Aherlow in the plate final this Saturday.

Club championship

Goals win matches was never more true as the county plate final was won by Aherlow on Saturday evening in Duneske. The game started brightly for Moyle Rovers and they opened the scoring through a Gillian O’Brien point. We had a number of scoring chances which we failed to convert. Moyle Rovers pushed out their lead though a Gillian O’Brien free and a Jenny Everard point from play. Aherlow hit the net twice in the opening half to leave the half time score Aherlow 2-4 Moyle Rovers 0-4. Aherlow had the opening score of the second half as Moyle Rovers desperately tried to get back into the game. Sarah Everard evaded a number of defenders to off load to Gillian O’Brien who scored the badly needed goal. Another pointed free had Moyle Rovers back in the game as the deficit was now down to three points. However we were finding the Aherlow defence very hard to break down. Two more Aherlow goals put the result beyond doubt. Final Score Aherlow 4-8 Moyle Rovers 1-6. Our girls were disappointed with the outcome knowing they were capable of better. There can be no denying their fierce commitment and loyalty to our club during the training and playing of ladies football in 2017. Well done to the all our girls in both Junior and Senior who made huge sacrifices during the year to attend training and play matches. Our thanks and appreciation to the Management team of Tommy Campbell, Helen Cronin, Paddy McMeel, Owen Fogarty, Richie O’Brien and Michael Nash who gave a huge commitment to the preparation of the teams in 2017. Congratulations to our winners in the guess the score competition Maud Moore and Sean Scott with the correct score. Sellers were Emma Moore Kelly and Niamh Brennan. Best wishes to Evrena Everard for a speedy recovery following knee surgery.

Camogie.

Our final group game in the league campaign was played in Monroe on Sunday 1st October. A semi-final place was at stake for whoever would emerge victorious. Our girls began with great intent and gave Arravale Rovers no time on the ball. Thanks to great team work and support play we led at half time by 2-4 to 0-0. The goals coming from Eimer Ryan and Aine Fitzgearld. With the wind to our backs for the second half our girls with continued determination and with further goals from Sinead Kenrick and Eimer Ryan emerged winners. Seniors

In what has been a busy week, Our seniors defeated Ballyporeen in the County quarter final over a week ago and face Killenaule for the third time this year. It took extra time again to seperate these 2 sides but alas it was not to be our day, with the single point margin going in Killenaule favour his time. We wish them the best of luck in their first ever county final.

Our Minor defeated  Jk brackens in the county football final 2 weeks ago and then faced Moycarkey in the County hurling semi final on the weekend just passed.  Moycarkey were the much stronger team on the day and we wish them the best of luck in the final while our minors concentration goes to the football final.

Finally on behalf of the Senior & Juvenile club, we congratulate Gillian OBrien, Niamh Lonergan, Aine Fitzgerald, Sarah everard, Everena everard and Tony Smith all part of the victorious team that won the ladies intermediate football final.
