U14

After a great morning with our Underage groups in Clerihan, Carrick & Monroe.  All road lead to Cashel for our U14 taking on Clonoulty in the County Semi Final.  Clonoulty opened the scoring with a point from a free. Peter McGarry opened Rovers account in the 5th Minutes with a point  from a free, and within a minute, Killian Butler scored a excellent goal.  Clonoulty centre forward scored a lovely point from a sideline cut, and quickly added another point from play.  Daire Luttrell scored a point from Rovers but again Clonoulty replied with a point. Rory Collin & Peter McGarry finished the half with a point each, both from placed balls.  Half time score Moyle Rovers 1-4 Clonoulty 0-4.  We had it all to do in the second half as we were now playing into a gael forced wind, but this did not discourage this panel of players, to do what was required of them.  Clonoulty opened the scoring with 2 points but Daire Luttrell replied scoring 1-1 from play.  Clonoulty replied quickly with a goal. It was Daire luttrell  who stepped up to replied with another  point from Play.  Clonoulty scored 2 points from  frees, this time Peter McGarry replied with a point from a free. Again Clonoulty scored 2 points with Peter McGarry replying again this time with a goal. Clonoulty scored a point from play to put 2 points between the sides.  In the 23 minute DC Hayes score a point to put the goal between the sides, while on the 25th Minutes Daire Luttrell was going through and took the sensible option and took his point to put four between the sides, as it turned out it was the decision that won the match for us, as we were now in the 26th Minute and  Clonoulty responded with excellent goal, but  time was on our side and the referee whistle was greeted with great excitement by players, mentors and supporters.  Time to get ready to pack up and head to Cahir to Support the minors in the south final.

Minor “A” South Final

At the end of a long but successful day, we all headed to Cahir for the last game of the day to Support the Minor in their bid to obtain the South Minor “A” Hurling Cup. In what was a mixed bag of weather, all expected a very close contest between these sides and the teams didn’t disappoint.  We had a very competitive game with no Goals and the sides level on four occasions, but our minor stepped up a gear in the final 8 minutes and turned around a three-point deficit to a single point victory.  For the second time on Saturday the final whistle was greeted with such excitement by all Moyle Rovers supporters, it was great to see Captain Darragh Bolger being presented with the South Minor “A” Hurling Trophy, this is the first group within the club to win South Minor “A” Football & Hurling in the same year.  We wish them the best of Luck in the County Semi Final in Both codes that will be coming up in the next few weeks.

Intermediate Hurling County Preliminary Quarter Final

On Wednesday night last our Intermediate hurlers were defeated by  a much stronger St Marys team on the night.  On a wet and miserable night in Dr Morris park. With 2 goals within the first 10 minutes, St Marys took control of the game very early. After this we were alway chasing the game.  Final Score Moyle Rovers 0-9 St Marys 4-13.
