Last Sunday saw and replay of our Intermediate hurler taking on Carrick Davins in the South Semi Finals for the second year in a row, with hopes of a different result. Davins open wiht 3 points before Dara Ryan Replied with a point from a free. Davins added another point to their tally, while Craig Condon & Sean Carey brought us back to within a point. In the final 15minutes of the half Davins done alot of damage, scoring 2-5 while we only replied with a single point forom Kevin Grace. Sean Carey opened the second half with a point but davins replied with another goal. We now faced battling back a 13point deficit. but credit to these players they batle hard. Points from Brian Norris, Sean Carey and goal from Sean Carey brought us back to within 4 points. unfortunately this was to be the last of our scores, Davins scored a further 4 points. South U14 Hurling Semi finla took place Monday 21st August against Kilsheelan. The first half was very closely contest. Oran Ryan opened the scoring with a point, kilsheelan quickly replied with 2 goals. we didn't panic and within a minute peter McGarry had score rovers opening goal. Kilsheelan replied with a point, but Rory Collins added a second goal for rovers to leave the sides level. Rory Collins added a point to his tally. Kilsheelan replied with a point to put the sides a level again. Kilsheelan pointed again but Oran Ryan scored a point while Rory Collins score 1-2 while Kilsheelan replied with a point. Half time score Moyle Rovers 3-5 Kilsheelan 2-5. MOyle Rovers took complete contol in the second half with 2 further goals from Daire Luttrell & Petr McGarry and 10 points Rory Collins, Riain O Halloran Peter McGarry, Daire Luttrell while Kilsheelan only score 2-5 in the second half. Final score Moyle Rovers 5-15 Kilsheelan 4-10. Well done to all involved and best of luck in the final.

Our minor camogie team travelled to Ballylooby on Bank Holiday Monday to face the local Brian Borus team in our first minor fixture this season. Makayala led from the back with well-placed puck outs and our back line of Roisin Breen, Amy and Louise Norris defended well and conceded no score for the first ten minutes. When we went two points down we responded with well taken points by Aine Fitzgerald. At half time the scoreline was 0-4 to 0-2 to the home side. Our girls took to the field for the second half determined to close the gap. Emma Cronin was outstanding at defending and making probing runs assisted by Louise Norris and Sophie Delaney. Emer Ryan converted two frees to add to our scoreline. Our forwards Eve Ryan and Sorcha O Brien, despite their hard work, could not make inroads and convert our chances against a strong Borus defence. Our girls played their hearts out but the numerical advantage on the big pitch took its toll and we lost on the scoreline 1-11 to 0-5. U17 Division 2 Plate Final. Moyle Rovers U17s took to the field in the plate final against Sliabh na mBan on Saturday August 19th. We got off to an ideal start when Dearbhla Mc Donagh scored our opening goal. After some missed chances Sliabh na mBan scored a goal and it was all square. With great passages of flowing football we had some well worked scores from Sarah O Connor, Kate Moore, Eve Ryan, Alana Dowling and Aine Fitzgerald, the half time score was 2-6 to 1-1. The second half continued in the same vein as the first with great defending by all the backs. Despite their best efforts, the opposition found it difficult to pass the half back line of Robyn Tynan, Louise Norris and Michelle Cronin. Our hard working midfielders Emma Cronin and Aine Fitzgerald linked well with the forward line up. Kate Moore and Sarah O Connor were in top form and were a thorn in the side of the opposition. At the final whistle the score was 5-10 to 2-2. Emma Cronin accepted the plate, on behalf of her team, from Gillian O Brien, a member of the Tipperary intermediate football team. Our under 14 girls travelled to Tipp Town last Sunday to compete in the league plate final. It was a very competitive game with some brilliant battles throughout the field. Moycarkey led by two points at half time. With it all to play for in the second half our girls went out and fought for every ball but we just couldn't convert our efforts and it wasn't to be our day. Super effort from everyone on the panel. Last Saturday saw Moyle Rovers face Cahir in the ladies U11 Division 1 Shield Final at Monroe . This first meeting between these two sides was much anticipated with great support for both teams on the day. Cahir playing with the wind in the first half opened the scoring after three minutes with a fortuitous goal followed quickly by two more points . Moyle Rovers replied with a goal from set-play by Eabha Dolan. Cahir continued to push forward with our girls defending resolutely . Cahir kicked two more points but our girls replied with another goal from Eabha Dolan to leave the score at half time 2-0 to 1-5. The second half saw our girls going forward at every opportunity with great energy from Mia Cahalane and Eabha Dolan at midfield. However a big blow came five minutes into the second half when a loose ball in the Moyle Rovers goalmouth was toe poked into the net to leave our girls with a huge test ahead. Our girls kept battling and were rewarded with two points from play. Cahir continued to pressurise and this was met with great defensive displays from Isabelle Hoare, Sarah Luttrell and Ellie Franklin . Cahir’s more experienced players combined to strike a great goal in the 14th minute despite the best efforts of Rebecca Acheson Dennehy in goal. We scored two more pints to reduce the deficit and had further chances for scores but it was not to be our day. To their credit our girls rallied and never gave up right to the final whistle. The team of fourteen players comprised six players who were under 10yrs . Thanks and appreciation goes to the entire U11 panel of players, their coaches &mentors and their parents for their support during the year.
Good luck to our club representatives Gillian O’Brien, Niamh Lonergan, Sarah Everard, Evrena Everard and Aine Fitzgearld on the Tipperary panel who take on Meath in the all-Ireland semi-final this Saturday evening in Semple stadium at 16.45 pm. The game will be televised live on TG4
