Congratulations to Kirsty Crotty Ryan, Emma Cronin, Orla Burke, Aine Fitzgearld, Jenny Everard and Cora Maher who are part of the Tipperary Minor Panel. Tipperary made the perfect start in Lattin on Saturday beating Limerick by 6-8 to 2-6. The juniors played Gortnahoe on Sunday evening in Monroe in the county league. Having won the C title last Year Moyle Rovers were playing in the B competition. Playing with the strong breeze Moyle Rovers were soon on the scoreboard thanks to points from Louise Norris and Marie Kelly. Caroline Quirke then had a goal. Gortnahoe responded with a penalty goal and point. Moyle Rovers re-established dominance and some Sinead Heffernan frees and further points from play saw them lead at half time by 1-7 to 1-1. However they were guilty of putting some good scoring chances wide. The second half started with a Gortnahoe point. Orla Ryan extended the lead with a goal. Another goal from Sinead Heffernan saw Moyle Rovers in a comfortable position with Fifteen minutes to play. From here on Gortnahoe piled on the pressure and began to get scores to whittle the down the lead. Two goals and a number of points saw them draw level and the game ended in a draw. Final score 3-7 each. Team: Claire Moore, Amy Norris, Tina Mulcahy, Maeve Corr, Sarah McDermott, Bronagh McGrath, Michelle Cronin, Aine Fitzgearld, Louise Norris (0-1), Marie Kelly (0-1), Orla Ryan (1-0), Eve Ryan, Sinead Kenrick, Caroline Quirke (1-1), Sinead Heffernan (0-4,3f). Subs used Sarah O’Connor, Hannah Mallekoote, Maggie Zacharczuk, Ellen Buckley. Our U16 girls had a very busy week starting with a home game against Ardfinnan on Tuesday evening. Moyle Rovers began playing against a strong wind. Scores were hard to get whereas Ardfinnan just seem to have their kicking boots on. Second half came and with that, an honest team talk that seemed to work, they went back out and stepped up a gear. They clawed their way back into game bit by bit and then they finally went in front. Our lead only lasted a few minutes because Ardfinnan went back up and scored a goal of their own. Our girls tried their best to get that goal back but the final whistle came too soon. The match ended with a score-line of Moyle Rovers 4-03 to Ardfinnan 3-09. The next match came two days later with an away match against Ballyporeen. In this match everything just seemed to go right for our girls, some lovely inter-passing, nice team-work and good shooting for scores. We ended the game with a comprehensive win but still have a-lot of work to do. Unwanted clothes collection on Saturday 22nd April. Details next week
